UPDATED: August 2021

As we enter an uncertain time, we are going to be fluid with our Return To Play Protocols. Decisions made today may not be same as tomorrow. Please refer back to this document often. We have used many sources in coming up with our Return To Play recommendations, including but not limited to local high school athletic association guidelines, the Aspen Institute, the Play Sports Coalition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and NFL FLAG recommendations.

At National Flag Football we are excited to get back on the field!  We are serious about safety and have taken several steps to ensure that we return to play safely.  Please read through the guidelines below to familiarize yourself with our new policies.

These are general guidelines for all of our leagues to follow.  Each state and/or county may have different mandates in place regarding youth sports that we will follow in addition to these as needed.

Prior to arriving at the fields:

  • Perform a health assessment of yourself and your participants.  If anyone has a fever of 100.3 and above, cough, sore throat or is not feeling well, please keep them home.  If anyone has come in contact with anyone who is experiencing these symptoms, please keep them home.

  • While we are not limiting the number of spectators, those viewing the game are asked to practice social distancing in the stands and around the fields.

  • Wash or sanitize hands before arriving to the fields.

  • Wait in your car until your team's practice/game is scheduled to begin.  Please do not congregate in groups in the parking lot or around the fields.

  • Have your child bring his/her own labeled water bottle and avoid sharing with others.

At the fields:

  • A field layout will be provided to all families showing designated areas for each team for games and practice.

  • Coaches are encouraged to wear masks where social distancing is not possible. (example, in the huddle)

(Future State & Local mandates may require that masks be worn by staff, players, coaches & spectators).

  • Spectators are asked to adhere to 6-foot social distancing practices while at the field.

  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at the fields and our staff will be wiping down high traffic areas often (benches, gates, bathroom doors, etc).

  • Food/gum/sunflower seeds will not be allowed on the fields.

  • Players should avoid touching their mouth guard as much as possible and sanitize hands after.

  • Avoid high fives, celebratory hugs, and other forms of contact between players, coaches & spectators

After the game:

  • Players should refrain from high fives, handshake lines, and other physical contact with teammates, opposing players, coaches, officials, and fans. A “round of applause” can be used following the game in lieu of the handshake line.

  • Any team snacks brought to the game must be prepackaged.

  • Please exit the fields as soon as possible after your game is complete and avoid congregating in groups near the fields or in the parking lot.

Additional Notes

  • If you have questions or concerns reach out to the operations coordinator for your league.

  • If your participant, or anyone who attends games, tests positive for Covid-19 please reach out to your operations coordinator to make them aware.

  • If someone in the league lets us know they have tested positive, we will ask that they stay home for 14 days  before returning to the field.  The CDC continues to endorse quarantine for 14 days.  We will also inform the league of the case by email.

National Flag Football continues to work with our facilities, communities and school districts to ensure we are adhering to the policies and protocols necessary in order to operate. We will monitor weekly and keep you up to date on any changes throughout the season.
